ABNA24 - Joseph Kent, a senior US official who resigned earlier over the illegal military aggression against Iran, says it was the Israeli regime that dragged the United States into war with the Islamic Republic.
Kent stepped down as director of the National Center for Counterterrorism (NCC) saying, “I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran.”
In a post announcing his decision, he noted that “Iran posed not imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.”
Kent echoed his resignation comments in an interview with American media personality Tucker Carlson. He reiterated that Iran did not pose an imminent threat to the United States, rather it was the Israeli regime that posed such a threat.
He explained that it was difficult to believe that Iran posed an imminent threat when senior US officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, acknowledged that the aggression against the Islamic Republic was “a preemptive attack.”
Kent emphasized that White House officials did not present any evidence to back up their claims of the US facing an imminent threat.
He said when senior US officials speak about the chain of events that led to the decision to attack Iran, it becomes clear that a planned Israeli attack is what created the current crisis.
